Are you wasting time fixing images on your WordPress site or trying to generate sales through social media?

In this video I cover Perry Marshall’s new book 80/20 Sales and Marketing (RUN – don’t walk – and buy it now!) and the specific jobs Perry thinks are a waste of time – along with the ones he thinks are worth $10,000 an hour.

    Hi Moe,

It has been a long time since I’ve had an email from you! So welcome back.

I been following Planet Perry for a long time and got the 80/20 book about a week ago. It is definitely worth getting for anyone doing anything, esp. if they are in business. I am looking at how much $10/hr work I do [like writing comments on blog posts :-)], but as a small business, I’m doing those things out of necessity. Having said that, I am now much more aware of those tasks and will be changing all that in 2014.

It seems that marketing is the critical task since my app business has a pretty high ROI in terms of the time I need to spend vs the income. My business communications products business requires more time, but the long term return will be good. But for both, I need to get myself in front of the traffic, like very other business person does. It’s about finding the starving crowd and selling them hotdogs!

But 2014 is a new year and has new potentials!

All the best to you in 2014 also.

    Tom

Thanks a lot for leaving a comment and sharing what you’ve been up to, Tom. I agree that it’s easy to think we need to do some of the $10/hour tasks because we’re running a small business. But as you suggest, if we focus on the higher-value jobs it’s better (and more profitable) to farm the $10/hour jobs to someone else.

I’m in the process of training another assistant and look forward to getting a lot of the low-value tasks off my plate in 2014!
